It was a pleasure to have this sweet baby boy and his parents in my photography studio a couple of months ago. Little Roman was excited to come into the world and was born very early–at 28 weeks gestation. It’s always a little scary when a baby comes so soon before his due date. Roman had to spend a few months in the NICU where the doctors and nurses could look after him. They did an amazing job and released this happy and healthy baby boy from the hospital right before Halloween (he wasn’t even due until December!)

Lots of Love in a Tiny Package

When mom and dad brought Roman to my studio for his newborn photography session, it was still 5 weeks before his original due date. Although he had grown a lot since his birth (he was born at only 2.05 pounds and 14.35 inches) he was still so tiny! Roman’s claim to fame is that he is the smallest baby I have ever had in my photo studio. What a sweetheart!

I was so careful as I posed this delicate little guy for newborn pictures. He did a wonderful job for me and is such a handsome boy!

A Musical Flair

Roman’s daddy is musical, so we decided to include a little musical flair in this newborn photo shoot, using dad’s guitar. Everyone wants their photography session to be personal and unique. A great way to do that is to bring a special prop from home that reflects parents’ interests or hobbies.

Welcoming a baby into the world is such an exciting time, and I was grateful to be a small part of it in my role as newborn photographer. I loved meeting Roman and taking his baby pictures. Congratulations to mom and dad on their beautiful baby boy!

Home Is Where the Heart Is | Vacaville Family Session

Last summer I met my client, Alisha, when we were both pregnant with our sons. When her younger son arrived she wanted to update her home with beautiful family prints. After our consultation we planned the perfect session for the family’s needs.

A Stunning Display

The family wanted a casual and clean lifestyle session. We incorporated neutral tones, white linen and wood accents to go along with the theme. I had an exciting afternoon with these two high-energy boys. It wasn’t hard getting these sweet kids to smile. They couldn’t contain their giggles and mom got the best out of big brother with her eskimo kisses. After our session, I worked on crafting the finished product for the family. The family chose a variety of beautiful heirloom quality block prints for their home. Take a peek at these stunning pieces here.

Unlike traditional wood transfer prints, these are printed with full color rich and true colors so no wood grain will show through. Like fine art canvases, they come ready to hang. Benjamin’s parents are huge baseball fans and wanted to incorporate their favorite game into their son’s newborn session. Though we were adding some classic touches we still wanted to keep this session clean and modern. Benjamin was representing the New York Yankees in style!

Today, mom and Benjamin were in the studio for his special newborn session! Throughout the shoot, Benjamin was calm and slept most of the time. His newborn session featured neutral tones with pops of color. I found the cutest handmade teddy bear at Britches and Bonnet. It was so precious how Benjamin snuggled up next to his teddy. Next, I placed Benjamin in a basket with some unique pieces. Mom brought their Yankee’s Baseball that went perfectly with the baseball theme. The chunky knit blankets were unique pieces that I crocheted. I wanted to keep with the teal and neutral color scheme so I decided to create my own props. Last, one of mom’s must-haves was a fun, starry background that worked wonderfully. It was the perfect modern touch to Benjamin’s Newborn Session.

Turning one can be so exciting! I prepared for Avery’s Cake Smash Session by decorating the set with black, white and gold décor – all ready for Mr. ONEderful.

Dapper Birthday Boy

Before the big day, Avery’s mom scheduled his session several weeks in advance so his photos could be displayed at his party. (I highly recommend booking early since my calendar tends to fill up fast!) I began the session with a few family shots of mom, dad and Avery in their custom outfits. Their matching shirts coordinated so well with the theme. After a quick outfit change, Avery was looking dapper in his shorts, suspenders, bow tie and gold crown. He was apprehensive of his cake at first but he eventually helped himself to a handful of icing. At the end of our session Avery posed by his custom-made birthday board which marked all of his favorite things!

Adventure Awaits for the Cole Family | Winters, CA Pregnancy Announcement

Hello friends! Lately, you may have noticed that my calendar has been full of newborn, maternity and cake smash sessions but this past week I had the pleasure of catching up with the Cole Family. The Coles originally scheduled a family session but just a few days before their shoot they asked if they could squeeze in a few shots to announce their pregnancy. I was happy to oblige!

The last time I saw the Coles, we were in my studio for little Adalynn ’s Cake Smash Session. This time, our session took place in the charming town of Winters. The historic Railroad Bridge was a beautiful backdrop for this family session. The creek turned out to be a perfect spot for Adalynn and dad to share a sweet father-daughter moment and skip a few rocks. Adalynn expressed her excitement for a sibling. She predicted that she was going to have a little brother to play with. As I wrapped up our session, I caught some tender moments of Adalynn and mom picking wildflowers by the water. I am so glad I got to catch up with this family and to watch all the love that awaits Baby Cole!
